Overview
Darma Valley is one of the most beautiful and least-visited valleys in the Kumaon Himalaya. The Dhauli Ganga river leads you through a succession of Bhotiya (Rang community) villages — each with its own character, ancient temples, and relationship to the peaks above. Panchachuli (Five Fires) — the five summits where the Pandava brothers are said to have cooked their last meal before ascending to heaven — rises at the head of the valley in a massif so dramatic it feels mythological. Our native Dharchula team has been walking this valley for generations. We know which families will open their homes, which orchards are ripening, and when the upper meadows bloom.
Highlights
- Panchachuli peaks (all five summits) from base camp at 4,500 M — one of Kumaon's great views
- Darma Valley — Bhotiya villages of Dar, Duktu, Sela and Nagling
- Apple and apricot orchards in full bloom (April–June)
- Dhauli Ganga river — turquoise glacial waters throughout the route
- Rang community cultural immersion — weaving, farming, traditional architecture
- Ancient Mahakali temple at Duktu
- Option to extend to Sipu Base Camp or Balati Glacier
- Ideal for families, first-timers, and senior pilgrims (Darma Valley route)

Common Questions
About This Yatra
Is this trek suitable for beginners?
Yes — Darma Valley is our most beginner-friendly route with gentle gradients and max altitude 3,200 M. Panchachuli Base Camp requires more fitness (4,500 M) but has gradual altitude gain with rest days built in.
Can I do just the Darma Valley trail without going to base camp?
Absolutely. The Darma Valley Trail (6 days) is a standalone package. Many guests — especially families and seniors — prefer this cultural walk without the high-altitude push.
Is an ILP required?
No Inner Line Permit is required for the Darma Valley trail or Panchachuli Base Camp. This makes these routes more accessible and easy to book on short notice.
When do the apple orchards bloom?
April and May see the orchards in full bloom. June has ripe apricots. September–October has the clearest mountain views. All are excellent times to visit.
